Albufeira is a touristic city, set in the middle of the Algarve. The council has a population of around 40.000 people, expanding in peak season to 200.000 people. It is 40 minutes away from Faro Airport, and about 2 and ½ hours from the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
The Albufeira Coastline stretches around for 30 km and has around 25 different and beautiful beaches with most of them having a light soft sand.
Albufeira Town is mainly divided into two sides, Albufeira Old Town, and Oura (East side). The "Strip" is set in Oura, and the main square is set in the Old Town. Both places have a lot of shops, bars and restaurants. Normally Oura is visited more by teenagers and the Old Town by its character is visited by everyone.
